If you believe in supporting a community center that welcome individuals and families of all identities, religious beliefs, or personal histories, consider the YMCA. If you are looking for an organization that will be an honest and transparent steward of your money, consider the YMCA. If the YMCA has ever impacted you, consider making a gift.
Hi friends. I recently joined the board at the Foster YMCA in Houston, TX. As you all know, board members are tasked with raising funds to support the YMCA of Greater Houston.
The YMCA has always been an important part of my life. The YMCA has given me scholarships when I haven't been able to afford to join a gym. The YMCA trained me to be a lifeguard as a teen, one of two part-time jobs that I used to support myself through undergrad. The YMCA gave me a place to lay my head in NYC when I found money to visit the United Nations, but I couldnt afford a hotel. And every place that I have ever moved, which is well over 20 moves from birth, I could always go to a YMCA and find community.
Here at the Foster YMCA, we impact thousands of lives every year through the programs we offer in the areas of eliminating drowning, improving academic performance, eliminating chronic disease and childhood obesity and creating opportunities for social equity. We strive to offer to members of our community an environment that fosters personal growth, leadership skills and healthy relationships.
Your support to our cause makes a true impact, allowing us to help those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to participate in Y programs. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and neighbors.
