I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Weekley YMCA. I am personally committed, and have already pledged to contribute $1,850 to the campaign. I am doing so because as a board member and volunteer volunteer with the the Y, I have seen first hand how the organization is making a difference in the lives of youth and families in our community.
At the Y, we impact thousands of lives every year through the programs we offer in the areas of academic achievement, swim safety, chronic disease prevention, outreach and family relationships. We strive to offer to members of our community an environment that fosters personal growth, leadership skills and healthy relationships.
The Weekley YMCA provides scholarships to allow youth and families to participate in Y programs. No one is turned away due to inablity to afford the Y.
The Weekley YMCA also maintains outreach centers in apartment complexes and schools in Southwest Houston to provide a safe place for kids to do homework, receive tutoring, and enjoy Y programs after school.
The Weekley YMCA builds community. During Hurricane Harvey, we opened our doors to the community, extending free memberships to JCC members while it was being repaired after the flood.
Your support to our cause allows us to continue to provide these scholarships and services. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and neighbors.
Please consider making a gift today and support our efforts to strengthen our community through the YMCA.
